The Area Committee, Composition

Basically, the committee is composed of all district committee members, area officers, and chairs of area service committees. There should be enough districts and committee members to ensure good communication bertween the committee and the groups. In the absence of a D.C.M., the alternate D.C.M. is a voting member. excerpted from the A.A. Service Manual

Area Committee

The Area Committee is composed of the area's district committee members (DCMs), and the area's elected officers. The officers include:

the area chairperson, co-chairperson;

the delegate and alternate delegate;

the secretary and alternate secretary;

the treasurer and alternate treasurer

and all chairpersons of the area permanent standing committees. The permanent standing committees are as follows:

• a) Archives

• Semi-permanent Archivist (4-year term)

• b) Treatment Facilities

• c) Correctional Facilities

• d) State Convention

• e) Grapevine

• f) Group Services

• g) Area/Intergroup Liaison

• h) Literature

• i) Newsletter

• j) Public Information

• k) Cooperation with the Professional Community

• l) Finance Committee

• m) Special Needs
